New York based healthcare facilities present both a challenge and opportunity in the development and implementation of the green economy principals of sustainable design, construction and operations practices. In medical, additional issues arise such as the need for 24/7 operations, energy and water use intensity, chemical use, and infection control requirements. These can pose obstacles to the implementation of currently accepted green protocols.
